tarhaun submitted: See, I understand it, but I don't see it. I don't see the house of ideas being creative with SW like Dark Horse. With DH they are a smaller company and told great stories using the films as a template. Knowing marvel they'll just put out a generic cash in with out going deeply into the universe.
Perhaps.
But on occasion, I like to be a little more optimistic about these things. Nobody knows what the future holds. Dark Horse will still be doing the titles with a corporate entity breathing down their necks about what should and shouldn’t happen and the direction of the story from start to finish. Only this time, instead of the already Disney-like Lucasfilm, it’ll be the homunculus that is Disney itself.
And Disney isn’t some company with permanent dollar signs on their eyeballs. They’re storytellers in all mediums. They’re pretty efficient when it comes to their properties, especially big-name properties, and Star Wars is one of the biggest names under the Disney banner now.
And it’d be foolish to think that Disney will just limit it to being a generic cash cow for the sake of making that mean green. Disney has plans beyond the movies and the merchandise, plus they know there’s a strong force that will be disturbing them the moment they screw up.
