Between this and the earlier picture, I never wanted to see a crossover more. Most impressive.
First part of my commission from the awesome Autumn Sacura! The idea was the Sailor Senshi meeting the Avengers (I dunno multiversal shenanigans happen all the time in comics so…)
First part is Steve Rogers/Captain America, Usagi Tsukino/Sailor Moon, Sam Wilson/The Falcon, Makoto Kino/Sailor Jupiter, Minako Aino/Sailor Venus, and Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel!
Autumn did a good job on this so far. Most impressive.
I blame this post and this pic.
And while a racially-diverse cast in an action cartoon is incredible, let’s not forget the fact that this version of Sailor Moon was going to be a live-action/animated hybrid series in the vein of Sweet Valley High meets Tenko and the Guardians of Magic not to mention completely altering how the fans perceive the Sailor Moon franchise.
It’s weird.
Then again, I’ve seen weirder.

And the crowd goes wild.
A toss-up between Justice League Unlimited, Outlaw Star, and Dragon Ball. JLU showcased the awesomeness of the DC Universe without a heavy focus on Batman. Outlaw Star was just a fun adventure series (even though Whedon will deny it, there’s kind of an Outlaw Star feel in Firefly, especially in both shows’ protagonists), and Dragon Ball showed off how Goku grew to become the hero of Earth in a great mix of comedy and martial arts action.
OH! And Sailor Moon S. I can understand why people loved that season so much. New characters and relationships, Stephanie Beard was perfect as Rini. And Sailor Moon actually proving that she’s the hero she was meant to be.

Gosh, I think Stephanie Beard did a GREAT job on her voice. Didn’t think it was possible for a grown woman to sound like a small child like she did. It was perfect! So perfect. I think it was Sailor Moon S that made me realize, holy crap, this show IS fricken awesome.
It was a great season. SuperS freaked me out with the Pegasus and whatnot, and Fisheye being Fisheye.

YES. wasn’t she a radio voice first? i can’t remember exactly, i just remember her doing a song called ‘the real sugar baby’ and someone set it to clips from SM and…it was the best damn AMV ever, lol. i can’t find it now— or at least, i can’t find the original-original. she had the greatest voice (unlike, imho, usagi’s later dub? it was kind of grating).
i was obsessed with supers, negl! even if the focus on chibi usa really, really confused me for a while— but i liked the introduction to her future soldier group (with jun jun and pallas and them). LOL, i’m upset that they genderbent fisheye into a girl! ;3; but gosh, sailor moon was a great show. i really need to rewatch it.
See, now you’re aging me. I remember that back in 2000, primordial Flash video, but I do remember crushing on Suga Baybee, as she was calling herself up there in Canada (she did the Maddog and Billie Show on the radio and YTV on television [what a great channel concept that used to be].
Seems like a lifetime ago now.

Yeah, it really seemed like the new voice of Usagi really tried to impersonate Terri Hawkes a little too much instead of trying to be her own character or, at least, as close to the original voice as they could make it.
But yeah … young brother finding out a cute girl like Fisheye was really a dude was definitely a Crying Game moment for me. Granted, I was 22 at the time and probably should have seen it coming considering Zoisite on the show as well.
BTW, haven’t talked about Sailor Moon in this length in ages, so I thank you for that.

Confession time: I’m a fan of Sailor Moon. It was a pretty fun title, and, what can I say that Barenaked Ladies haven’t sung about them? Another confession: I have never seen My Little Pony: Friendship in Magic. Don’t have The Hub on the homefront, so can’t watch it. That said, this is the cast of FiM as Pretty Soldiers.
From what I have seen out there about the show, this fits so well.
